Coconut Palm Designs

If your looking for custom signs for your home , shop etc look no further Coconut Palm Designs can do a custom order for you! Here's my short interview with Coconut Palm Designs
Q:What do you love about etsy?
A:I love the sense of community here on Etsy. Everyone is so kind and willing to help total strangers. It's a truly wonderful place to be.
Q:How did you come up with your shop name?
A:I wasn't really sure what to pick for my shop name but I wanted something to signify that I lived in a tropical country but something that didn't relate specifically to one type of craft or another. Also, on my land, here in Belize, we planted over 500 coconut trees last year so I think I had the idea of coconuts in my head.
Q: What inspires you?
A:Everything and nothing inspires me. Mostly I design based on what I am designing and/or who it's for.
Q:What is an interesting fact about yourself?
A:I am Canadian by birth, Jamaican/Lebanese by heritage, have lived in both Canada and Jamaica and now I live in Belize, Central America.
Q:Where else can people find you ?
A:My blog is: http://coconutpalmdesigns.blogspot.com/ I also have signs in various retail stores in Jamaica so far and am working on getting into Belizean stores.
Not only does she make wonderful signs but she also does other types of artwork as well so go check out her shop on etsy! http://coconutpalmdesigns.etsy.com

Cherry Licious

I love most anything that has some cherries ! And I absolutely love Michelle Strader's fused glass pendants. These pendants are truly works of art. Looking through her shop you can definitely tell how much artistic ability goes into these great pendants.

Here is my interview with Michelle

Q: What do you love about etsy?

A:What I love about etsy is it gives me a website to give to local customers so they can get to me when I can't get to them. It really is so much easier than any website I could have for myself.

Q: How did you come up with your shop name?

A:Shoozles is a nick name I got from my cousin when I was 10 and I was wrestling my brother in the front yard so it is now my Business name- Thought it made a much better jewelry business name then a wrestling name LOL

Q:What inspires your art?

A:I like nature and color that is what I think influences my style more than any thing but more than any thing I love response, I am a response junkie- What does that mean? It means I listen to people talk about what they like and it means anything that makes me feel an emotion gets me motivated to make glass.I love all the famous painters- Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso

Q: What is an interesting fact about you?
A:I am a mother of 12 yr old triplet boys- they are the reason I work from home and make glass my full time job

Q:Where else can you be found?

A:I sell my work locally at Alton Stained Glass in Alton, Il, All unique Creations Wood River IL, Alexander beads in Alton, Il, Main Street Gallery in Edwardsville IL.

I also do home parties, Online parties and Box parties plus many shows a year.

Michelle has a great selection of artistically fused glass pendants in many styles I just happen to love cherries! In her shop you will see some amazing pieces no matter what your style may be. Go check her out http://www.shoozles.etsy.com

In case some of you were wondering I posted not long ago saying that I was going to feature a new etsy artist one a week. Since then I have signed up to take part in a challenge as part of this challenge I will be featuring an etsy artist everyday for the next 90 days. Keep your eyes peeled these are some great shops and I will be having a great contest to go along with the challenge more info to come......

Yada Yada Yada

So I had to have a few of my windows replaced here today and my 4 years old son talks and talks the ear off any new person that comes in our home. Well the things he says are very random sometimes they are embarrassing sometimes they are funny you never know what will come out of this kids mouth. (A little background info for you I live in New Brunswick my Husband works on the other side of the country in Alberta not long ago we thought we would move out there see how we liked it , we took an airplane there , didn't like it took an airplane back so my son thinks that Alberta is in the sky). Well he tells this guy that his daddy is in the sky and he can't see him anymore....What does the window guy think...that his father is dead! It's not funny but I was near peeing n my pants laughing because that is what it sounds like to someone who doesn't know the situation.

Retro Humour

I'm loving the Retro Humour from myheart2yours

You can definitely tell katie lyn has a fun sense of humor from peeking around her shop!

Here is my interview with Katie Lyn
Q: What do you love about etsy?
A: I was looking for a way to sell my scrapbooks on a site other than the E one that charges a lot of fees just for listing.

Q: How did you choose your shop name?
A: I chose my shop name, My Heart To Yours, because I always signed my work with that phrase. There is no way that we, as artists, can charge enough to cover all the time and energy plus materials. There have been some altered albums that I have created that took 20+ hours to create, yet the market would only bear $55.00 when the album was sold. I truly believe that those situations were "works of the heart."

Q: What is the funniest thing that happened to you while doing your art/craft?
A: Well, it's not funny really, but when I glitter up something and then my cat has to come help and his tail gets glitter all over it!

Q: If you had unlimited funds and unlimited skills and could create anything you want what would it be?
A: I would embellish my new car with Swarovski crystals along the pin striping and door handles and wherever my heart lead me to embellish. You can never have too much bling or embellishments!

Katie Lyn is a professional Math Educational Specialist. She tutor's students of all levels of math throughout the year. Her busiest times are Aug through May. However, when she is not doing math, She makes really cool things.
You can find her on her etsy site from myheart2yours
her blog: http://www.katiepaper.blogspot.com
Additional Link that might someday become a website: http://www.scizzorspaperrock.com/ (right now it forwards to her etsy store)
Go take a look for more funnies!

Got a Baby?

Got a baby or know someone who is having a baby? ellebelleonetsy has the perfect gift in her shop! I love these tag blankets how I wish my babies were still babies....well maybe not quite but I think it will be the next baby shower gift I give!

Now of course I gotta know more and I'm sure you want to as well, so here is my little interview with ellebelleonetsy

Q: What do you love about etsy?

A: I love everything about Etsy! All the amazing handmade items, all the creative descriptions people write for their listings, the interesting conversations in the forums, the way cool approach Etsy admin takes, and just being a part of this community in general.

Q:How did you choose your shop name?

A: My daughter's name is Elle and a good friend of mine always called her Elle Belle, so it stuck.

Q: What is the funniest thing that happened to you while doing your craft/art?

A: had just bought my embroidery machine and decided it was a great idea to bring it with me to a craft show and embroider baby bibs on the spot. I had no idea was I was doing, and it was windy, so my supplies were blowing everywhere. Looking back I can laugh about my "Extreme Embroidery" experience, but it wasn't funny at the time.

Q: Where else can people find you?

A: You can find Elle Belle on ellebelleonline.com which links to my Etsy shop ellebelleonetsy.etsy.com and my blog ellebelleblog.blogspot.com

I also love these cute dresses they are so adorable

What are you still doing here get over there and check her out http://www.ellebelleonetsy.esty.com/

Who Needs a White Christmas?

I'm thinking pink this year! And these cards by SoCalledMommy are on my list they are so yummy.
Here's a little more info for ya about SoCalledMommy!
Q: What do you love about etsy?
A:There is such a great range of crafts and artists to choose from, and they all love what they do. Plus everyone is so supportive of all the other crafters and we all really want etsy to succeed.

Q:How did you choose your shop name?
A: When we lived in California, my screen name was So-Cal-Mommy. I had several people tell me that they always thought of it as So-"Called"-Mommy. When we moved from California, I needed to use something else anyway, and that just made since. Especially since that's how I feel some days, with regard to my parenting skills.

Q:What is the funniest thing that happened to you while doing your craft/Art?
A: I don't think I could talk about anything funny, without having my kids involved. Last Christmas, I was addressing envelopes with my calligraphy pen. I made the mistake of leaving them on my craft table in the basement, and my then 2 1/2 year old daughter found them, and another pen, and scribbled circles all over them. I was so mad when I found her that I started jumping and stomping my feet. Eventually I calmed down, and most of them were still sendable, so I did send them, and told my friends and family that my daughter said hello too. For weeks after that she kept asking me, "When you get mad, do you hop like a bunny?"

Q: What do you want people to know about you?
A: I've dabbled in so many other types of crafts, since I was young, including things like cross-stitch, sewing, watercolor, origami, and embroidery, that's it's been really nice to find my groove. My husband likes to tease me a little, because I've gotten way more "involved" (I think meaning spending more money...) in scrapbooking and card making than I thought I was going to when i got started. But he's great to support me in what I like to do. And I like all the fun things I can create with pretty paper. Besides, what mom doesn't need a little break and something she really enjoys doing?

And right now
SoCalledMommy is exclusive to Etsy check her out and at http://www.socalledmommy.etsy.com and make sure you also check out these wonderful pink Christmas tags!

I am so Excited

I am waiting on an order that I recently made and I can't wait! I had a custom request for a couple of necklaces and the type of stones and designs aren't something that I would normally do. This is the reason I absolutely love custom designs it makes you think outside of your little box that you have grown custom to. And I am also excited because when ordering supplies you can't really order just enough for one project sooo I ordered enough for a line Think gunmetal and Hot Hot Hot!!!!!

Also you know I love etsy and because I can't but everything I want from etsy once a week I'm going to feature someone's shop that I love here on my blog as my way of supporting the great and wonderful sellers of etsy!

It's Been Awhile

Well it has been quite awhile since my last post I have not forgotten! After my crazy move all the way across Canada on airplane with 2 children on Christmas day 2006 I decided I wanted to be home and I made the crazy move back a mere 6 months later! Everyone needs a change at some point in there life and I am happy I made the move because now I know for sure that is not the direction I want to go in. So after somewhat settling in back home in NB, I have been busy working on another change a very time consuming change I am revamping my Wyred On Wire or simply W.O.W. I am streamlining packaging busy creating new lines for new stores. It has been a very exciting process I cant wait to share more as things start to unfold I will keep everyone updated. I have been currently switching out my normal website www.freewebs.com/wyredonwire over to my new website on etsy http://www.wyredonwire.etsy.com/ I will still keep the freewebs page for information however I will be selling through Etsy. Thanks for your patience in this time of transition.

Etsy

I have been very neglectful of my blogging duties and I apologize for this I will try to make it up and post more often! I have been busy doing research on online markets to sell my jewelry through . There are quite a few out there but in my opinion there are 3 really good ones Etsy, Rubylane and Yessy, I've had to do lots of research to try and pick the best one. I thought I would let you all know why chose to go with Etsy. Initially I was leaning towards Rubylane which is a really good place but you have to fall in one of 3 categories antiques, collectibles and or jewelry. Yes I do make jewelry but when you land in that category you can't have any of the fun accessories I've been trying to get added to my line of jewelry like hair peices or cell charms. Yessy seemed to be another good place but after doing lots of research I found out that if you are in canada one their shipping regulations would end up making my shipping price start at 12.00 and up I didn'd really want to put that on my customers! So in the end I went with etsy I'm still adding items to my shop but go and check it out www.wyredonwire.etsy.com I will be added new stuff frequently to try and get my store stocked so check in frequently!

Off Topic

While this is completely off the jewelry topic I love so much I found a website I wanted to share. It's a forum actually but its also so much more than that you can start a blog there they have a spot for your profile and friends, it's like myspace meets forums. The best part is that you actually get paid for participation it's not much but if your gonna be a part of these things anyway why not earn a few dollars for it. They get paid from the advertisements and basically they give some of that money back to the people on the sites making the ads work for them. I think it's a great idea! Check it out here http://www.mylot.com/?ref=agwbabycakes . Have a great day!

Not So Traditional Birthstone

Sterling Silver Necklace with Amethyst (picses birthstone)

My Birthday is in April the traditional birthstone for April is diamond, growing up I always got birthstone jewelry, while very appreciative I was always envious of the birthstones with color. Eventually as time went on being involved with research for my jewelry
for sale at :
business I learned that there are many birthstones besides the traditonal. There are birthstone charts for different cultures, religions and zodiac so if your looking for something a little different and not so traditional you can pick from a whole list every month I will give you a list of not so tradional birthstones. Because this blog is new March's birthstones are coming in a little late but better than waiting a whole year:

Traditional- Aquamarine

Zodiac- pisces(feb 22 -mar 21) - Amethyst, Ruby, Bloodstone and Jasper

Aries (mar 22-april 20)-Bloodstone, topaz, sapphire, Jasper and Aquamarine

Additional Cultural Birthstones- Opal and Hematite

This is really just a short reference list there really is a lot of info out there on birthstones for me to give you all that info at once I would have to write a book. Theres even Birthstones for hour of birth so if your not satisfied with these options you can look further and I'm sure you'll find a birthstone that you truly love.
